Brrrrrr. Winter. Is it REALLY over?

Today it snowed. It's April 15th.
I woke up to about 2 inches of snow covering my newly green grass.
Literally.
Not a joke.
This really happened.

Last night it started and we all woke up to the white stuff this morning in the midwest.

So I've been inspired to look back at all the lovely snow we had this year in Michigan.
Some areas closer to the lake (Lake Michigan) got more snow than us.
But lets just say - its been an epic year of snow.
So epic, it had to drag on into April
And, with today's snowfall, Detroit officially has had the snowiest winter on record.
Now that's some serious snow.

Snow was taller than the baby sitting. She looks happy about it.

Spot the mailbox? Hey, the sun shined this day, thats a bonus!

Thank GOD for snowblowers! Especially when your husband travels!!

Good thing we covered our grill!

Thats a road sign. And at one point it was almost totally covered.

Sheet of ice. Can barely see the tracks to drive in. Did I mention it was -cold that day?!
No, this wasn't a drift against our door, that was how deep the snow actually was!!

And to be on the positive side of snow in April....3 weeks ago we would have loved a sun-shiney 35 degree day, so lets enjoy this one last cold day and then....

lets THINK SPRING!!!

THE Blizzard of 2014

{This post was written in the beginning of January, at the beginning of our crazy snowy winter!}

You might have heard that it snowed. In Michigan. In January. Who would  have thought?

In the scheme of snow storms this one was pretty epic. Not only did we get a TON of snow, it was cold, cold, cold. Brrrr. They called it a polar vortex. That name just sounds seriously cold.

Of course Jordan was gone during this snowstorm and it was up to me to keep the driveway clear and accessible because I would have to eventually go back to work and face the snowy roads. I was lucky enough to be home during the coldest of days so I didn't have to move from my couch. Evelyn and I stayed in our PJ's all day and snuggled.

While she napped I ventured out into the blizzard to clean out the driveway (attempt to anyway) so the drifts didn't overtake the snowblower! Speaking of snowblower. THANK GOODNESS we bought one this year! We were so, so, so, so close to not buying one because of cost, but it has more than paid for itself.

Of course I had to go out and snap some pictures of the baby in the snow!
Don't worry, we were outside for less than 5 minutes!

Here's hoping to a quick winter!
